Born on Christmas Day in 1873 Nina Evans Allender used her creative talents to advocate for Women’s rights. In the early 1900’s, her cartoon illustrations could be seen in many of the suffrage newspapers and magazines being published.. Allender, first started as the official cartoonist for “The Suffragist” a newspaper published by famed suffragists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns. Her works were cited as some of the first portrayals of younger, Modern-American women as leaders in the suffrage movement. On September 1, 1920, the cover of “The Suffragist” depicted Allender's illustration entitled “Victory” to symbolize the passage of the 19th Amendment,
